Cable calculations

Learn more about cables, trays and cable calculations in Virto.CAD.

After cable routing has been executed we can proceed with performing cable calculations.

In the cable calculations section you can locate the option "Calculate DC Cables", when pressed this opens a new window where we can define the preferred maximal voltage drop and make a selection of cables for the project. You can also add your own cables to the system.

After the selection was made the button in the bottom right can be pressed to initiate calculations. The summary palette will now appear with all data such as cable lengths and voltage drops. VirtoCAD automatically chooses the cable that creates a voltage drop under the max we have set (in this case 2%)

At this point you can still manually select different cross sections per string/inverter or for the total project.

On the top of this window there is still the option to export the provided information to excel.

Voltage drop calculations only apply to DC for now, on the AC side only cable lengths are provided.
