Edit ground layout

Learn how to edit your ground layout in a ground mount project.

After creating a layout, Virto.CAD still has different options of editing it. Below we'll go deeper into all options.

1) Omit modules

"Omit modules" can be found in the ground mount section. This option allows you to select modules that you want the system to ignore for calculations. This way you don’t have to remove them.

When you want to return these modules to their previous state, you can use the reset modules option in the same section.

2) Numbering

If you did not check numbering options when building your layout you can still do this after.

Select the "numbering" option in the layout boundary section, this will open a popup where you can specify the numbering you want to use on your project.

You can choose to number the rows and/or the modules and racks as well. Then choose to start the numbering in the North or South.

The last option “continuous numbering” allows you to number different layout boundaries together. If this remains unchecked then all boundaries will have a separate numbering.

The next step is to select the boundaries in which you want to apply this numbering. Press “select on drawing” to set one boundary at a time or “select all” to apply it to the whole project.

3) Setting coordinates

You can also implement coordinates on your project. This is available for the piles and fenceline corner points.

Press the “set coordinates” option and select if you want to use WCS (world coordinate system) or UCS (user coordinate system).

After selecting the preferred system coordinates are added automatically.

You can also export these coordinates as a CSV file with the “export coordinates” option.

4) Copy layout boundary

If you need to copy a layout boundary and all the modules inside you can use the copy function found in the layout boundary section.

After pressing this option you can select a point inside the boundary, specify the base point and then place this copy where you prefer.

You can now also add a name to the newly created layout boundary. Select the “PV Array Name” option.

Pick a start point for the leader inside the boundary and the end point for the text placement. Now enter the name for this boundary and press enter.

5) Delete

If you want to delete all the modules and racks inside a boundary you can use the delete option in the layout boundary section.

Simply press delete, select a point inside the boundary and all the racks and panels will be deleted.

6) Layout boundary recovery

You can still change the layout boundary and divide the project into smaller groups.

Simply delete the large boundary and create smaller boundaries that incorporate the same racks. Make sure that all the racks and modules are inside of a boundary or they won’t show up in the summary palette.

Select refresh in the summary palette to add the newly created boundaries.
