System configurator

Learn more about the system configurator: rooftop new system configurator.

In the system configurator you can define the electrical properties of your project. Open the system config ribbon and press system config on the left.

The first step should be to define the different wiring groups in the system (see create groups). These groups are parts of the PV plant that you want to string separately. Afterwards the bottom left indicates all created groups as well as the amount of panels and KWP in this group.

Here you can add new groups or alter existing ones. The options next to the name allow you to change the group name, edit the amount of modules and delete the group.

In this case we have created a group of 4396 modules, so we will need to create an electrical configuration for that amount. We will do this in the “Add to configuration” section.

      • Select module: here you select the module used for the group.
      • Transformers: Here you select the transformer that has to be used.
      • LV cabinets: Select the preferred LV cabinet.
      • Inverters: Choose an inverter from the available database.
      • Next is to select between the use of MPPT’s or string cabinets.
      • Define the amount of MPPT’s or select the right stringcabinet and define the amount needed.
      • Choose the amount of inputs, strings in parallel, the type of Y-connectors.
      • Modules: You can specify the needed string length here. The program will give an indication of the minimum, maximum and optimal string length but these are just suggestions, a string length past the minimum and maximum can still be used by typing the length.
      • Total modules: The amount of modules this configuration can support, this can be increased by adding devices like inverters.
      • Last of all there is an indication of the max VOC at a temperature you can set.

If the preferred configuration is created you can select “Add configuration” and it will appear on the right.

Here you will see all created elements and you will be able to edit as well. You can duplicate or delete elements by right clicking and even change individual string lengths to configure the project to your wishes.

You can still add different inverters by right clicking the LV cabinet and selecting add inverter.

Also if you select a device by left clicking, the "add to configuration" window will allow you to create an extra configuration to add under that device. (eg. an extra LV cabinet under the selected transformer)

After the right amount has been reached you can allocate them to the right group and if done correctly the text will appear green in the overview and in the group as well.

If you are working with an East-West configuration then you will need to use the alternate options.

This alternate button allows you to divide all strings equally over East and West panels. Press it, select the preffered wiring group and choose to alternate on inverter level or MPPT level. This will of course only work if there is an even amount of MPPT's or inverters available.

Start with East or West and select to divide the strings. AFter this you can press OK to finalize.

As you can see now all strings are divide across the sub groups East and West.

Now you are ready to start adding strings to the project.
