Create a ground-mounted system

Create a ground-mounted PV concept by defining the site boundary, rack configuration, spacing, and orientation.

Before you start

Have the project address or an image, drawing, or PDF of the site available. When using an uploaded underlay, make sure you know one real-world reference dimension and the north direction.

Create the site area

  1. Start a project from Google Maps, an uploaded underlay, or the whiteboard.
  2. Draw the outline by selecting one of the action keys in the toolbar: rectangle or polygon.
  3. Select the ‘ground’ surface type in the side panel.
  4. Add obstacles and exclusion zones with the rectangle, polygon, circle, or line tool.
  5. Set obstacle height, ground alignment, and offset where applicable.

Create the PV layout

  1. Continue to Module Layout and select the ground surface.
  2. Choose a module from the database and select an existing mounting system or use the add button to create a rack configuration.

  3. Enter the required row pitch and rack spacing.

  4. Select azimuth alignment method
  5. Use Autofill to populate the full available surface or Free size to define a specific installation zone.
  6. Select one or more racks with the selection tool.
  7. Move, duplicate, or delete the selected racks.
  8. Use Add modules to continue the layout with the same or a new configuration.

Analyse and configure the system

  1. Run a shadow simulation to identify (and remove) shaded modules or areas.
  2. Review the yield settings and expected monthly production.

  3. Add consumption and financial inputs when they are relevant to the project decision.

Finish the project

  1. Review the project overview and check totals by roof face and for the full project.
  2. Generate a branded report and publish an interactive 3D link to engage with your stakeholders.

Good to know: The ground-mount workflow is intended for early feasibility and layout decisions. For now, no terrain is included. Neither are the electrical functionalities supported
